Mount Carmel 3×5 Prayerful Mat
with the following description on easel back:
Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Feast Day – July 16th
Feast of the Carmelite Order
The name comes from Mount Carmel in Palestine on which the Carmelite hermits lived and eventually migrated to Europe. On July 16, 1251, legend has it that the Blessed Virgin gave the brown Carmelite Scapular to St. Simon Stock in England and promised “whoever dies clothed in this (scapular) shall not suffer eternal fire.” A symbol of the bond between our Lady and the Order of Carmel, the Scapular represents the protection and security we find in our heavenly Mother’s love.
